The Scandinavian has been, basicly, disproved.
Indeed you can use it against weak players with no knowledge about strategic chess, but, in the masterful chess it does not make sense. :D

As a long time Scandinavian defense player myself :
GM Smerdon just has a book out about Scandinavian defense.
GM Tiviakov played it for many years.
In the past GM Anand (against Kasparov) and GM van Wely used it to surprise their opponents.
GM Karpov played it several times in rapid games.
GM Shirov lost against the Qd8 line a few years ago.
Having said that, I happen to know a GM who claims that the Scandinavian defense is bad, but ... I refuse to believe that all lines from the Scandinavian defense are bad. :)

As I said, against weak players it will be fantastic but, even with good results, white tends to dominate black or at least, draw against it.

you mean you wouldn´t play the italian or the scandinavian defense vs. a slightly weaker opponent because it´s hard for black to generate chances if white plays unambitiously?
if so, what do you do if a 200 elo lower rated player plays 1. e4? would you avoid all 1. ..e5 lines right away because he could go into the giuco piano and play for a draw, and play the sicilian instead?

Caro Kann? French? Modern Defence? Pirc? Even the Sicilian is terrible for weak players.
I have heard the scandinavian is considered a blunder (I am not sure about exacts, but He may have said "positional blunder".) by IM John Bryant. It was the first time hearing this. Then this post. I am interested in knowing the specifics as to why. I really don't care if people refuse to believe it. I would much rather see the reasonings. So if you have time to discuss that part. I would love to see the reasoning.
MasterZaitsev, what would be your recommendation against Qd6 scandinavian to get an advantage? Same question for Qd8 variation.
