Simple but VERY tricky puzzle

In 17 moves can you clear the chess board so that only kings remain (using standard chess rules)?
I've seen this done in a video :P is 17 the lowest possible number of moves?
well would 16 moves be enough? 15 is not but in 16 it should be possible..... ill look into this and get back to you
Oh cool, that would be interesting to see to see if it's the same solution.
The lowest one I've found is 34 half-moves and it's fairly simple to show you need at least 33 half moves (3 where there are no captures) so the shortest one will finish somewhere on move 17 but I can't be certain my solution is the shortest (although I suspect it is).
I got it in 35 moves a few minutes ago this is annoying me haha
Wow, I'm impressed you got one that low so soon (35 half moves?)! Good luck ;)
yeah haha I was at it for a while and it is a bit of imagination :)
I've found that it's a really fun and rewarding problem myself! After far too many hours I can now say the shortest solution is 33 half moves long and very tricky to find. Good luck to all those who try!
