Rematch offer after bm

I don't understand why a player would offer a rematch immediately after playing out a lost position:
Revenge, trying to learn, trying new opening(s), enjoys chess, ...
It's like asking why we don't give the game up for not being the best at it.
But he only had 8 seconds left. Maybe he just timed out "by accident".
And there is nothing wrong with playing on lost positions. When I was a kid I once won a game vs 1300 after being down Queen + Rook...
Playing on in a lost position at my rating doesn't bother me, generally I'm bad enough to where I could blunder a loss at any moment.

Though it's a little annoying playing all the way to checkmate when its a queen and king vs king. Sometimes I'll let the clock tick for a bit with checkmate in one on the board, though last time I was given like 5 minutes of time by my opponent, which was extremely funny.
To be fair, he might have mistakenly thought you're one of those other players who sometimes make mistakes. Like here, where white plays out a losing position and manages to score a stalemate: lichess.org/khSL3zck#96
OTB there are prizes and/or tournament invitations (by rating) at stake; here only a handful of rating points were at stake.

This was a 5+3 (slow blitz w/increment) game which lasted about 5 minutes longer than necessary: after 20. Bg3 Black has no targets & no plan, and White has two obvious plans of promoting the b-pawn & of capturing f7 and whatever pawns hang next.

After 23. Ne5 Black probably understands that any 1500 (given enough time to think) could easily win that position. I don't begrudge a player for trying to win (or draw) but -- here's the key -- playing 1-move threats which hinder your own plan (if any) is a terrific way to play boring chess, so don't expect a rematch.
