BUG: the unfamous warning when I had 1 (one!) second

Do you really think that the warning is correct?!

I thought for 1 minute to find a mate, then realized that there is no mate, then made a move, thought 22 seconds, made a move and at the moment of warning had 1 second according to my memory *and* to the lichess site.

Yes, I thought very slowly, but I was half-sleeping. My local time was 7 A.M. and I did not sleep the night.

Warning, game_spectator. Letting time run out instead of resigning will result in a temporary ban.

I expect off-by-1 bug, although the algorithm may be broken at all.

No, that's the intended behaviour. Some players stall and try to play just before flagging in case the opponent got bored of waiting and left
@thibault So the algorithm is broken at all.

Yes, I sometimes see the behavior that you described. But it is a legal trick like placing a piece in such a way that it is possible to make an open check later. The illegal behavior is *complete* leaving the game.

Although I consider this trick legal, I think it is completely useless starting from 1800 rating or so.
the algorithm is very nice and and it helps to draw attention to unsportsmanlike behavior.
The warning works well enough IMO and it flagged you because the position is objectively lost, it might me difficult to realise sometimes but after you had no mate there you could have just resigned.
There are good and bad reasons that lead to let the time run.
Threatening a ban is unfonded accusation (procès d'intention in French for Thibault)
