What about introducing bughouse to Lichess.

I play it with my friends all the time over the board, and I think it would be a fun chess variant to play here on lichess with your friends or randoms. What do you guys think about bughouse overall?

It would be fun but Thibault does not plan on adding varients anytime soon.

I believe that if it looked like other lichess variants, it would be the best place for bughouse of all. I would donate at least 100 EUR if the bughouse was added. Bughouse fans, would you also donate?

I wish that Bughouse will be added to Lichess in the soon coming future.

However, Bughouse means you will have to have a partner and four players per game seems a bit too much, it might be hard to get enough players, and, not all players will be happy to who the get paired with.

Thibault has covered this ad nauseam. Lichess was never built to handle more than 1 player vs. 1 player. They would need to overhaul the site's code. And they have no plans on doing that at this time.

I agree that Bughouse would be a godsend.

Yet Lichess will not be adding more variants...

There used to be a working proof of concept based on Lichess code, it was on bughousetest.com.

But that project seems to have died since, sadly.
